Bachelor-level Paraprofessional Counselor

Reports to: Director of Counseling   

 

Major Responsibilities or Tasks May Include:

Pre-Procedure counseling
 
  • Assess moral, ethical and spiritual readiness of patients seeking pregnancy terminations.
  • Educate patient about birth controlVoluntary limitation or control of the number of children conceived, especially by planned use of contraceptive techniques. options and surgical procedure.
  • Refer to professional counselor according to protocol.
Procedure Counseling
  • Set up procedure room and assist physician by passing appropriate instruments.
  • Provide emotional and physical support during and after procedure.
  • Complete appropriate forms post-procedure.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a university majoring in counseling/psychology or a related field of study.
  • Commitment to pro-choice mission of the organization.
  • Available to work Tuesday, Friday and/or Saturday.
  • Complete 3 day training session prior to start date.
  • Reliable transportation to and from our downtown Pittsburgh office.
