Located at 933 Liberty Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh, Planned Parenthood/Women's Health Services of Western Pennsylvania (PP/WHS) provides safe and confidential pregnancy termination services up to 18 weeks.
Formerly known as Women's Health Services, PP/WHS has a history of providing safe and legal abortions to women since 1973. PP/WHS is committed to continuing a tradition of quality health care administered by a compassionate staff of doctors and nurses.
PP/WHS's appointment line is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. A positive pregnancy test result is necessary before scheduling an appointment for an abortion.
- PP/WHS offers surgical abortions up to 18 weeks and medical abortions for women who are less than 63 days from their last menstrual period. Use our calculator to estimate the gestation of your pregnancy.
- Fee Schedule- Dates are measured from the first day of the last menstrual period (LMP).

- Options counseling and post-abortion counseling are available upon request before and/or following a procedure.
- Planned Parenthood / Women's Health Services accepts most major insurance carriers and HMOs that cover gynecological and abortion services. UMPC and Community Blue are currently not being accepted. Insurance pre-verification will be done after you schedule your appointment. We accept cash, money order, MasterCard, American Express, Visa, and Debit cards as forms of payment. Personal checks will not be accepted.
- Women obtaining an abortion in the state of Pennsylvania are required to undergo state-mandated counseling at least 24 hours before a medical or surgical abortion. PP/WHS can provide counseling over the phone or in person depending on the patient's preference.
- In the state of Pennsylvania, women under 18 must have the consent of one parent or have completed a judicial bypass procedure. PP/WHS will provide information and assistance to patients seeking judicial bypass.
- Proper photo identification is required by all patients and by their accompanying support persons.
