| Buffer Zone Legislation |
We won! With a resounding, veto-proof 6-3 final vote today, City Council passed Bill No. 2005-1944, "Public Safety at Health Care Facilities," which will protect patients and their companions entering medical clinics and hospitals in Pittsburgh. This ordinance is particularly meaningful for women and their families facing fervid anti-choice protesters outside Planned Parenthood health facilities, as well as other targeted clinics.

This ordinance would not have passed without your assistance. The emails and phone-calls certainly made an impression on council members, and without them we don't know if this ordinance would have made it through subcommittee. Thank you again for all of your dedication and hard work helping to get the medical safety zone ordinance to pass Pittsburgh City Council.
Please take a quick moment if you haven’t already (or even if you have!) to thank the six members of council who stood up for our patients, their families, and innocent pedestrians in front of our health center:
If you’d like to send a written note, address it to individual members and mail to:
The Honorable (First name) (Last Name)
Pittsburgh City Council
510 City - County Building
414 Grant St.
Pittsburgh, PA 15219
And, once again, thanks to you for helping ensure safe reproductive access in Pittsburgh!
